These terms
Kingsfate is made by an independent developer in Sweden (“we”). By playing it, or by making an account, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy, which says what we keep about you. The game says so where you choose your name to play online, and where you make an account.
Who may play
You must be 13 or older to make an account or play online. If you are under 18, read these terms with a parent or guardian, who agrees to them for you.
Buying the game
You buy Kingsfate from the store you play it on: the App Store, Google Play or Steam. The store sells it to you under its own terms, takes the payment, and decides refunds by its own rules. These terms add to the store’s (on the App Store, to Apple’s standard licence agreement); they don’t replace them.
There is nothing more to buy: no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Everything in the game is earned by playing.
Each store sells its own copy: buying the game in one doesn’t give it to you in another. But one account plays on every platform you have the game on, and any account may sign in on a bought copy, yours or a friend’s. The game checks its store’s proof that a copy was bought, and one copy may make only so many accounts; the privacy policy says what that check keeps.
Your account and your name
You may play as a guest, or make an account: with a name, an email address and a password. Keep the password to yourself: you answer for what is done with your account. An account is yours alone; don’t sell, share or trade it.
Other players see the name you play under. Don’t choose one that insults, threatens or harasses anyone, that is obscene or hateful, or that pretends to be someone else (another player, a real person, or us). The game checks every name others would see against words it refuses, and shows a refused one to them as Wanderer. A name it misses may be reported, and we may stop showing such a name, change it, or close the account that keeps it (below).
Play fair
Don’t:
- cheat, or use a bug to win or to gain renown (tell us about it instead);
- play with programs that play for you, read hidden parts of the board, or send the game’s server what its own pages wouldn’t;
- harass other players, or spoil their wars on purpose;
- report a commander falsely, or to settle a score;
- attack, overload or try to break into the game, its server or its players’ accounts, or copy its data in bulk.
If you do, we may act as below says.
Reports, blocks and what we may do
You may report a commander whose name or play breaks these terms, and block anyone: open their name in the game. We read every report ourselves, within a day, and a commander you report is never told who reported them. Someone you block can’t join wars you are at, and their taunts and cheers no longer reach you. A note you add to a report is for us alone: keep it to what happened.
When three different commanders report the same name within 24 hours, it is shown as Wanderer until we look.
When a name, a commander or an account breaks these terms, we may, as the case calls for:
- stop showing a name (others see Wanderer), and ask its commander to choose another;
- rename an account to a neutral name (write to us to choose another);
- keep a commander off the boards (the Daily’s, the rated ladder, the season’s renown and the hall of champions);
- suspend a commander from wars others share, for a time or until we lift it (wars against bots alone still play), and an account from signing in for as long;
- stop a war, or take back renown or unlocks gained unfairly;
- delete an account or a legend, for what is serious or keeps happening.
If we act on your name or your account, we tell you what we did and until when. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@kingsfate.com and we will look again.
Renown and unlocks
Renown, unlocks, styles and everything else your legend holds are earned by playing. They have no money value, can’t be bought, sold or exchanged for money, and stay with the legend they were earned by. We balance the game as it goes: what renown buys may change, and in rare cases we may have to adjust or reset legends.
What is ours, and what you may do with it
The game, its code, its art, music and voices, and its name belong to Kingsfate’s developer, apart from the parts made by others and used under their licences (the game names them in its Credits). You may stream, record and share your own play, and screenshots of it, as you like, including in videos that earn money; please say it is Kingsfate.
The game as it is
The game is given as it is, and it keeps changing. It may have bugs, be down now and then, or lose a war in progress. We may change or end any part of it, and we don’t promise it will always be there or always work.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses that come from playing or being unable to play, such as lost progress or lost time. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Ending
You may stop playing at any time, and delete your account in the game (the privacy policy says how). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Changes
We may change these terms as the game grows. When they change, this page changes, with its date; a change that matters is described here. Playing on after a change means you accept it.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of Sweden, without taking away any protection the consumer law of your own country gives you. Write to support@kingsfate.com with any question or complaint.
